Muhyi al-Din Ibn Arabi (1165-1240 CE) is a well-known and highly regarded Spanish-born mystic and one of the most prolific writers in Islamic history. He has contributed significantly to Quranic commentary, jurisprudence, theology, philosophy, cosmology, and spiritual psychology. He was also a poet of love. He is the founder of the school of gnosis (irfan) and bridges practices of healing the heart as divine mysteries with theoretical issues of philosophy and theology.
