Did you know ... nearly all stores (halal grocery, American chains, health & natural food stores, and warehouse clubs) absolutely do not offer organic dates, let alone the most recent 2016/2017 crop? (Because when the market is looking for the cheapest price, the quality you get from your local store reflects this demand.) Even today, there are many stores selling unsold crop from the 2015 harvest, because the price is cheaper!

There are many different varieties of dates, though all share some basic characteristics. They grow on date palm trees, for instance, and are native to hot, arid climates.
